Why Do You Need a Luxury DMC in Iceland?
In Iceland, having a trusted luxury DMC partner is not only recommended, but it is also essential.

A LUXURY DMC IN ICELAND - WHY ARE WE NECESSARY?
If you ask any luxury DMC anywhere in the world as to why they are needed, they will undoubtedly provide you with some very compelling reasons. Whilst we cannot speak for our fellow luxury DMCs across the world, we can say for certain as to why having a luxury DMC in Iceland is not only recommended - it is essential.
So, what does a luxury DMC in Iceland do, exactly? Well, we create tailored, bespoke experiences in Iceland for high-end travel agents and tour operators. Sound simple enough, right? However, there is a bit more to it than that.
THE ENQUIRY
No two clients are the same, and everyone experiences things differently. The only common denominator among our visiting guests is that they long to visit Iceland, though not necessarily for the same reasons. We tailor our trips to each client's needs, wishes, and preferences. We try our best to wrap the trip around the guest and ensure the best fit possible. To do this, we need information.
We love to learn as much about our guests as possible. Not just what they want to see, but why they want to see it. It really helps us to know more about their character, their hobbies, interests, what they like (and what they don't). Once we have that perfect X-ray of the guest, and only with our expertise and local knowledge, it would surprise you as to how we can use that information in our curated experiences to ensure the guest feels like the trip was created just for them, and with a sprinkle of meaningful and thoughtful micro-experiences along the way.
For agents who are not as familiar with Iceland and simply do not know what we know, this can be challenging to achieve.
THE PLANNING
As I have once said, Iceland is more complex than you think. It is a big island, and the places our guests want to go are often spread out. Our roads have a lower speed limit than those in many other countries, and the roads are not always in the best condition. This means that it takes a bit longer to get from A to B.
We tailor our trips to ensure that we strike a perfect balance between wonder and comfort. This means we have to be very strategic in where we book accommodation in order to ensure that our guests' days are easy and that they get what they came for.
We also plan the activities strategically to ensure that they fit snugly into the day, with a perfect blend of fun, excitement, and relaxation, and that our guests do not feel that they are just trying to pack it all in.
Only with this local know-how can we apply such precision in planning, which agents might find difficult to do unless they know Iceland exceptionally well and know how to stay up to date with its constant changes.
THE BOOKING
We like to think we get it right the first time and deliver a winning itinerary. However, we do sometimes need to adapt, tweak, and fine-tune. However, it doesn't take long before we get a green light and the guests are pleased and excited about their adventure.
It is at this stage that we start to make it happen. Iceland has a lot of different suppliers offering a wide array of activities. Fortunately, we know exactly who to trust and that we know will deliver exceptional experiences. We tend to favour smaller, family-run companies that we believe will deliver that authenticity, which is so much more important these days. We also keep our eyes and ears open for new and different options that we feel our guests will love.
We always pick the right hotels, but we select the hotels according to the itinerary, and we do not plan the itinerary according to the hotels. The reason is for that wonder/comfort balance. We have good relationships with the hotels that we most frequently select, and therefore, our clients trust us to take care of all of the accommodation ourselves. We are often given a wish-list of luxury accommodation, but if it does not fit the plan in a way that maximises enjoyment and comfort, we will not be shy in letting our clients know. We want the same thing - happy guests.
Ensuring that all the right choices are made is why our clients leave everything to us.
THE EXECUTION
Now here comes the tricky part. Well, not really. However, it is certainly part of the process that can sometimes be the most challenging.
Iceland is rather unpredictable, and no more so than during the winter. The weather can sometimes upset our plans, and so we need to adapt. In most cases, it simply means that the private helicopter trip over the glacier that we booked can no longer fly, and so we simply move it to another day that fits the plan. However, in rarer and more extreme cases, it means that, due to a blizzard, the country hotel is no longer accessible, and so we need to find another.
Adapting to these changes is part of our job. However, we also plan ahead, and if conditions do not look optimal for any coming days, we will get to work on adjusting the itinerary to avoid disruption and to keep our guests happy.
Our private driver guides are truly exceptional at what they do, and we want our guests to feel safe and looked after. So, our guides always know exactly what to do when Mother Nature comes calling to remind us all who is really in charge.
Luckily, all of these changes are taken care of before our clients have even started making their first morning coffee. It is this that is one of the true values of having a trusted, reliable, and capable luxury DMC in Iceland.
So, why do you need a luxury DMC in Iceland? It goes so far beyond simple convenience. It is about precision planning, making the right choices, flawless execution, and that whole wonder/comfort balance that you can only get when you pick the right partner, and that is Iceland Luxury Expeditions.
